Frankly, I’ve always had an up-and-down relationship with holidays. Especially ones that say we’re supposed to do things for those we love. You should already be doing that, you don’t need a holiday to tell you that.
Well, I’ve grown a bit. and here’s what I think now.
Our way of life is a constant movement. Gotta go beat traffic, pack lunch for the kids, leave early, pick up groceries, and how much social media scrolling can I get through in the next 15 minutes. Because we are always moving at high speeds, we all need a reminder.
A reminder to slow down. Slow down and refocus on those things in life that are valuable.
When a holiday arrives I now believe it’s important to stop, smell the roses, and reflect.
What do I reflect on?
Family. There are many that don’t have, and many that have lost. I believe it will be our turn one day too, so let’s not get too high and mighty cuz tomorrow we may fall down flat on our faces.
All this to say…
Happy Valentine’s Day from my family to yours. Take every second, every moment, and soak it in while you have the opportunity.
